About SWASTH

A number of innovative approaches to improving water supply and sanitation were tested in India, particularly in the early 2000s. These included demand-driven approaches in rural water supply since 1999, community-led total sanitation, public-private partnerships to improve the continuity of urban water supply in Karnataka, and the use of micro-credits for water supply and sanitation to enhance access to these essential services.

People's Forum initiated its SWASTH project in 2014, providing microfinance for water supply and sanitation. The objective of the project was to develop sustainability and improve people's accessibility to safe water and sanitation, thereby ensuring a healthier and better standard of life.
