Mrs. Basanti Naik

Basanti Naik, age 38, resides in Mohada Village of Sonepur district, Block Binika, Odisha. She is a member of Bajarangabali SHG that consists of 14 members. Mohada village where Basanti Naik resides is one of the most backward villages of the area. Like many families of the area, Basanti did not had a toilet at her home and hence she and her family members were forced to go out in open for defecation. She was aware of the health problems associated with poor water and sanitation facility and hence when she came to know that People's Forum was providing support for toilet construction under SWASTH project, she approached the office for loan. It is now more than 2 years of her taking the loan. She has already repaid the entire amount and feels proud of the fact that she has a toilet in the vicinity of her house. She feels relief of the fact that her family members do not have to go out in open for defecation especially during rainy days or when they are unwell. She is now motivating other women of the area to construct toilet in their house as the same helps to address many of the health and security issues.

Mrs.Jharana Mangaraj

Jharana Mangaraj resides at Nuahata village of Khorda block, district Khorda. There are 6 members in her house including 2 school going children. Her husband is a daily labour and his monthly income is Rs 6000. When People's Forum started working on creating awareness on the issues of water and sanitation in the area, Jhrana strongly felt that even though they had limited resources but spending on toilet construction in her house is a worthwhile investment as this would help to cut on the expenditure of the family on health issues, which especially rises during the rainy days. She had a thorough discussion at her family level and was ultimately able to convince them to go for taking loan to construct a toilet in their house. Now they have a toilet in their houses with water connection. She is very happy with the development and is now motivating other members of her SHGs to go in for toilet construction.

Ms. Chandni

Chandni, 34 year old widow lives in a small village of Ramgarh of Jharkhand state. She used to stitch clothes for her livelihood. When she came to know about the initiative of People's Forum who were providing KIVA loan for marginalized communities she approached them for support. She took a loan of 20,000 and from the amount she bought a full automatic sewing machine. She has since then not looked back. Her income has almost doubled and she is now able to meet the requirements of her children very comfortably. Few years back she was striving hard to even support them with two square meals a day. The loan has changed her life and she is thankful to the Organisation for their timely support and flexible approach to provide support to the marginalized families. Chandni has the aptitude for perfection and learn new things. She keeps on updating herself with new stitching patterns and styles and this is the reason her clientele base is ever expanding. People appreciate her dedication and timely approach and are happy with her work. Chandni is now well established in her locality due to her good quality work. S he is now making plans to further expand her business and employ more marginalized women who are in need for support. She feels that if she can live a life of dignity with her hard work then even other people definitely can do it.

Mr. Ranjan Kumar

Ranjan Kumar, 35 year old man with disability hailed for a small village of Khorda district. He is married and has 2 children. Ranjan is engaged in weaving industry for last 15 years and is working hard to earn his living. He is a sincere and committed man and has never let his physical disability come in his way of success. He is the sole bread earner of his family. He works hard to provide them a better and comfortable life. Ranjan has good reputation in his area owing to his good quality work. He took a loan of Rs 40000 from KIVA loan provided by People's Forum and purchased a weaving machine so that he could speed up his work and and improve on the quality of clothes produced. Today he is well known in his area for the good work done by him. People come to buy his clothes and appreciate his work and dedication. Ranjan has proved that with commitment and hardwork one can fulfill the dream to live a life with dignity and honor irrespective of physical problems. He is a role model for many people who have some form of physical disability and lose their morale and treat themselves with inferiority.

Mr. Nilamani Dash

Nilamani Dash, aged 54 living in the village Rajpur of Bhadrak district had been managing his family through pulling of cycle ricksaw, which was rented. Thus in spite of day hard work he was able to earn very meagerly and hence was struggling to meet even the basic necessities of this family. One day he approached the office of People's Forum that had launched an initiative to support poor and vulnerable families with rickshaw/ trolley loan. He had come to know about the initiative from one of his acquaintances, who has also availed the loan. The case of Nilamani was investigated and he was provided loan. This was a turning point in Nilamani's life. He was now full of vigor and energy and his income gradually started increasing. The fact that the ricksaw was under insurance coverage for a period of 1 year also helped him. He repaid the loan within the set period and now he is the proud owner of the ricksaw. His income has increased and now he is able to fulfill the needs of the family and are living a life of dignity.

Mrs. Smita Singh

Smita Singh was admitted in SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack. She was brought to the hospital by her brother on 13th March 2016. She was admitted in the psychiatric ward with complaints of sleep disturbances, appetite issues etc. Though her problem was hereditary but the symptoms intensified after marriage. She had a son. Her husband left her in her parent's house. After proper treatment she was discharged from hospital but her family refused to take her back. She was the sent to Mission Ashra. On reaching Mission Ashra she was interacted to know about her well being and mental status. She was found to be stable and was excited to share her life incidences. Rapport was built with her and she was convinced that she would be able to return to her normal life if she takes good care of herself and follow the regime suggested by visiting doctor and counselors. Smita had been cooperative and is getting her treatment done as per the prescription of SCB medical college doctors. She is also taking active interest in other work of the centre. Attempt is being made to contact her family members especially her husband to convince him to take her back.

Mrs. Mousumi Ghosh

Mousumi Ghosh, 43 year old lady was rescued by Nayapalli Police station from Hotel Presidency on 16 March 2016 and handed over to Mission ASHRA as she was not found to be mentally ill. When she reached the campus of Mission Ashra, she was uncooperative, angry and was using slang language and was violent in her approach. With much persuasion she finally started accepting the people in the campus. Visiting doctor examined her and prescribed medicine. She was also given counseling on regular interval by the Counselors of the Organisation. In the initial two sessions she was not very cooperative and was not ready to speak to the Counselors, but by 3rd session she was comparatively comfortable and started talking about herself and life incidences. She shared that she belongs to a family of high stature. Her husband is a businessman and even she is highly qualified. She shared that her family life was good but after the birth of her daughter she started developing mental issues, she was given medicine and her husband was taking her care. Meanwhile she again became pregnant and had a son. Her life was going on smoothly. But then her mental problem intensified and her husband who was now busy in his business was unable to give her time or take personal care of her. One day unknowingly, due to her mental state of mind she left her home and started wandering on the road. She reached hotel Presidency and took dinner over there, but when asked for payment she reacted violently. She started scolding staff and tried to break furniture. Immediately police was contacted and the police then handed her to Mission Ashra officials. After spending around 3 months in the centre, her family members got her clue and came looking for her. Her mental state was now stable and she was very happy to see them. She was reunited with her family members and now Mousumi is with her family. Counselors in Mission ASHRA regularly contact her to know about her well being.

Mrs. Tanu Chandra

18th July, morning, the staffs of Mission Ashra rescued a mentally ill destitute from Bhubaneswar railway station and named her Tanu. Her condition was indescribable, less bother of cloths and unconscious. By getting proper treatment, counseling and care at Mission ASHRA, Tanu improved day by day. She became conscious of her living, learned Oriya and started to recollect her past. She flash back her past, said I am Chandra from the village called Badagochhara in Sundargarh district of Orissa having two small children at home. The MA team members tried to contact her home but no reply did letter correspondence. One team member visited her family and the family members were astonished to hear that Chandra is alive. Her son said, All were taking my mother dead but I knew she will return one day. I have the handkerchief given by her and I felt her sweet smell from it and came to take her mother back. What a delighted moment was that for Tanu, her son and the team members, really a heart touching. A grand farewell as A Ray of Hope for Tanu was organized by people's Forum. Many eminent personalities from the state were present over there to bless Tanu for her new life. There are many Tanu who have already reunited with their family by the effort of Mission Ashra.

Binu Rani

Binu aged 38 years came to Mission Ashra at 12.50 p.m.on date 15/05/2015 from arisal through PCR-32 Janla. She came here with here 4 year old boy and she was in a condition or six month of pregnancy. At time of interaction she was speaking in Hindi. She was in a distressed condition initially. Her condition was not good at the time of rescue. So, medical support was provided to her initially. Itishree

Name- Itishree Rout Age-38 ,Sex- Female, Date of Rescue- 28-11-2017, Place of Rescue- Pipili, Source of Rescue- Pipili PS, Language- Odiya, Religion- Hindu,
Itishree is a 38 year old fair complexioned lady rescued on 28th November 2017 by Pipili PS from Pipili. She belongs to a poor family and is married to Sanjay Kumar Rout who works as a caretaker at someone’s house. . They have 2 daughters and 1 son. They are original residents of cuttack. After Itishree got married she and her husband wanted a better life and wanted to educate their children well. In desperation her husband sold a kidney. Instead of utilizing the money for constructive purposes she gave the money to villagers. The villagers did not return the money. This had a severe impact on her mental health and became depressed and started behaving abnormally. In a state of depression she wandered off to Puri and was found wandering around near Pipili police station. At the time of rescue Itishree was extremely violent and using abusive language. She was constantly talking irrelevantly and she was physically very weak. In the initial sessions of counseling she was extremely reserved and was hesitant to share personal information. Gradually after the counselor was able to establish a rapport, she started sharing information. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 2years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in cooking. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.

Jhumuri

Name- Jhumuri, Age-32, Sex- Female, Date of Rescue-03-07-2017, Place of Rescue- Dhenkanal, Source of Rescue- JagabandhuJarashram, Bhuban, Dhenkanal., Language- Odiya, Religion- Hindu,
Jhumuri is a 32 year old lady dusky in complexion was rescued on 3rd july 2017 by Jagabandhu Jarashram, Bhuban, Dhenkanal and sent to Mission Ashra for rehabilitation. At the time of rescue she was thin and had extremely long hair infested with lice. She was aggressive and used abusive language. She used to pick fights with fellow inmates and office staff. Jhumuri was married off at an early age and her husband was a trolley driver. Since she was illiterate, she was supporting her husband financially by working as a maid. She clearly does not remember but due to some unfortunate incident there was severe impact on her mental health. Due to that she became mentally unstable and in a state of anxiousness she was found wandering around on the roads and was eventually rescued by an NGO in Dhenkanal. She had 1 son by the name of Kanha and has 3 daughters. She claims that all her children are well educated and married off. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 2years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in cooking. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.

Krushna Priya

Name- KrushnaPriyaPatanaik, Age-55, Sex- Female, Date of Rescue-30.1.2005, Place of Rescue- Ruchika Shardha Bhawan, Source of Rescue- Help line, BBSR, Language- Odiya , Religion- Hindu
Krushna Priya is a 55year old dark complexioned lady rescued from Ruchika Shradha Bhawan by helpline Bhubaneswar. At the time of rescue she was very violent attacking others and using abusive language. In the initial counseling sessions she was not comfortable with the counselor. Gradually after the rapport was established she started sharing information. KrushnaPriya was married to Sayarki Das who is a school teacher. One day while she was crossing the railway line in her village, she faced an accident which had a severe impact on her mental state. After the incident there were many differences between husband and wife. Gradually they started drifting apart and her husband started an affair with her younger sister. Her husband went on to marry her younger sister. All these incidents had a severe impact on her mental health. In a state of hopelessness she left home and was found wandering around on the streets of Bhubaneswar. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 14 years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in ensuring cleanliness of the campus. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.

Laxmi Bai

Laxmi Bai a 55year old dark complexioned lady rescued on 6th April 2010 by Ashra Rescue team from puri railway station. At the time of rescue she was in pathetic condition and was found wandering around. She was unable to maintain personal hygiene. She was untidy and had lice in her hair. Physically she was extremely thin. Laxmibai has 3 brothers and 3 sisters and is the 6th child of her parents. Due to financial crisis she could not receive education and studied up to class 4. At an early age of 16 she was married off to a businessman. After giving birth to a baby girl her husband started torturing her. Distressed and lonely she found herself a companion who supported her mentally. They developed an affair and she escaped with that boy. She gave birth to a baby boy after which she had marital problems and deserted her husband. In a state of hopelessness she wandered off from home and reached puri railway station unknowingly. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 10 years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in cooking. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.

Laxmi Priya

Laxmipriya is a 38 year old fair complexioned lady who was rescued on 27th February 2017 by DSWO Khordha from Vairabhi Club. At the time of rescue she was talking irrelevantly and saying she possesses spiritual powers. Her physical appearance was untidy and she had lice in her hair. Laxmipriya belongs to a middle class family. Her father was an employee at the BSNL Office but passed away in 2003. She went on to get married to a businessman by the name of BaikunthanathBehera. She has 1 daughter and 1 son. After some months of marriage her in-laws started torturing her and offered minimal support and co-operation in any activity. Occasionally her husband would attack and harm her. Due to increasing disturbances in the relationship Laxmipriya’s husband started drifting away and started an extra marital affair with his sister-in-law. All these incidents had a severe impact on her mental health and this triggered her mental illness. In a state of depression she wandered off and left home. She was found moving around on the roads and she was rescued at that moment. In the initial counseling sessions she was extremely anxious and very spiritual. She only spoke about her association with God. She avoided topics like marriage, family and education. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 2years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in cooking. Meena

Meena is a 45year old dark complexioned lady rescue on 9th December 2011 by Ashra Rescue Team from Jatni Railway Station. She is originally a resident of Cuttack. Her father is a government employee of the Railways. At the time of rescue she was very violent, aggressive and physically weak. She was in a pathetic condition. Meena at the age of 15years was married to Dilip Nayak who owned a garage. She did not receive education because when she intitially went to school her teacher misbehaved with her. Therefore her father withdrew her from school. She had a happy married life and 4 sons who are studying. After some years of marriage due to ever increasing marital discord her mental state started becoming unstable and deteriorated day by day. Thus she left her in-laws house and came to her father’s house, and her sons were with her husband. One day in a state of depression she left her home to meet her father at his office. She forgot the address and was found roaming around in the platform. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 7years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in helping maintain discipline at the centre. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.

Meena Sabri

MeenaSabri is a 40year old fair complexioned lady rescued on 26th august 2014 by Balipatna Police. At the time of rescue she was depressed and did not take care of herself. She was inappropriately dressed and did not maintain self- hygiene. She belongs to a poor family and her father was a farmer. She has 1 younger brother who stays at “The Assembly of God Mission”. She had a very disturbed childhood due to financial problems and her parents did not share a healthy relationship. Eventually both her parents passed away and she lived with her brother who was working as a daily laborer. During the 1999 cyclone she lost her home and left her village with her brother and came to puri. After coming to puri she stayed in a rented house and worked as a daily laborer. At her workplace also she faced sexual harassment so she left the job. In a state of depression, helplessness and hopelessness she wandered off to Balipatna station. At Balipatna station she was rescued by the police and brought to Mission Ashra. After being rescued she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 4years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in cooking. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.

Mohini

Name- Mohini Mohapatra, Age-29, Sex- Female, Date of Rescue- 01-05-2017, Place of Rescue- Thanapalli, khordha, Source of Rescue- Brundaban Dash, Language- Odiya, Religion- Hindu
Mohini is a 29 year old girl. She is very pretty and beautiful. She was rescued on 1st may 2017 by brundaban dash. She belongs to a middle class family and used to stay with her parents. She has 2 brother and 2 sisters. She has received education till class 9. At a tender age of 18 years she got married to a man who was a daily laborer. After a couple of months she gave birth to a child. But due to marital discord her mental condition started deteriorating and her husband divorced her. After 2 years she again got married to her uncle who started torturing and abusing her. All these events had a severe impact on her mental health and this triggered her mental illness. She was roaming around aimlessly in the streets of thanapalli village in khordha. Due to her poor mental condition the villagers decided to rescue her and brought her to ashra. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 2years of treatment she has completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in recreational activities like singing and dancing. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.

Padmabati

Padmabati is a 26 year old dark complexioned lady rescued by ashra rescue team from SCB Medical college. At the time of rescue she was very violent and aggressive. She used to beat other people. Padma originally belongs to Jharkhand. she belongs to a poor family and used to live with her parents and brother. At a very young age she was married off to a boy much older to her. She has 1 baby boy and her husband is a drunkard. He used to ill treat her and misbehave with her. This had a severe impact on her and she unknowingly wandered off to cuttack and was found at SCB Medical College. After being rescued she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 2years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. Panchei Nayak

Panchei is a 40year old dusky complexioned lady rescued on 2nd june 2018 by Ashra Rescue Team from Old town Bhubaneswar. She belongs to a poor family and is married to Bachei Nayak. Panchei used to stay with her parents and brother. After the death of her parents she was staying with her sister and brother-in-law. Due to illness her sister also passed away. After the death of her sister, Panchei’s brother-in-law forcibly married her off to Bachei nayak against Panchei’s wishes. Her husband used to work as a daily wager to earn a living. She stayed in the marriage for 5 months after which she could not adjust and left her husband to stay with her brother. She has not received education due to poor financial circumstances. Panchei by nature is an extremely anxious and aggressive person. At the time of rescue she was talking irrelevantly and was attacking others. Pratima Pradhan

Pratima is a 49 year old lady fair in complexion was rescued on 12th june 2010 by Ashra Rescue Team and she is well built. At the time of rescue she was dark complexioned and she was lean and thin. She was extremely violent and would attack others. She was quarrelsome and would constantly pick fights with other inmates. She belongs to a poor family and has 1 brother and 6 sisters. Her father was a farmer. She was unable to continue her studies due to poor finances. All her siblings were working as daily laborers to support the family financially. When Pratima was 17years her mother passed away and her father got her married to Mr. Pramod Pradhan. Her husband was a farmer and lived in a joint family. After 2 years of a marriage despite multiple attempts Pratima was unable to conceive due to gynecological problems. This led to major disturbances in her in-laws family and her husband started having an extra-marital affair with her younger sister. In a state of anger she left home and started working at someone’s house as a house help. Since she was not getting proper salary her mental condition further deteriorated and as a result she was found wandering about on the sea beach of puri. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 9years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in cooking. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.

Sanjana Singh

Name- Sanjana singh, Age-35, Sex- Female, Date of Rescue- 11-08-2016, Place of Rescue- Nayapalli, Source of Rescue- Nayapalli PCR, Language- Odiya, Religion- Hindu
Sanjana is a 35 year old lady dark in complexion. She was rescued on 11th august 2016 by nayapalli police station from nayapalli. She belongs to a lower middle class family. Her father is a painter and mother is a maid. She is the only daughter of her parents and has 2 elder brothers. Due to financial crisis she was unable to go to school. Originally a resident of Keonjhar, they had moved to Salia Sahi due to her father’s occupation. Sanjana used to accompany her mother to work as a house help. During this she fell in love with a localite of the slum. The boy was working at a marble shop. When her brothers came to know about the affair they revolted and eloped with the boy and went to their village. They were not accepted at their in-laws house as well. Left with no option they returned back to the slum. She gave birth to 2 girls. Her elder daughter suddenly took ill and passed away. After that her husband left her. At the time of rescue she was in depression and extremely violent. She was not aware of where she was and what was happening. She was not responsive to questions. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. Sebati

Sebati is a 40year old dark complexioned lady with height 4’4’’. She was rescued on 21st july 2005 by Ashra Rescue Team, Puri. At the time of rescue she was extremely violent always ready to attack others. She was inappropriately dressed and did not maintain hygiene. Sebati was married to Motilal Hembram and has 4 sons. Motilal was a daily worker and used to torture her after her 4th son was born. She found another person who was very supportive of her and she got attracted to him. They developed an affair and eloped to another village. In this marriage after a couple of months her mother-in-law did not accept Sebati and as a result started insulting her. In a state of anger she sat on the train and reached puri station. Unaware of the surroundings, she was wandering around aimlessly and was found at badadanda, puri. After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 14years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in cooking. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra. She is the most enthusiastic member of the Ashra family

Ambika (Suhana)

Name-Ambika(Suhana), Age-30, Sex-Female, Date of Rescue-29/12/2016, Place of Rescue- Markora station , Source of Rescue- Simulia Police station , Language- Odia, hindi, Religion-Muslim, Date of Discharge- 29/06/20147
Ambika was a 30 year old mentally ill women rescued by Simulia police station on the date 29/12/2016 from markara station. Ambika is from Baram Pada, Jajpur. When she rescued by the Simulia police Her physical and mental condition was very bad and she is not able to answer any question. She was very innocent and her dressing condition also very bad. She was fair thin but was in distressed condition. Simulia police rescued her and handed over Ambika (Suhana) to Mission ASHRA For her betterment our Mission ASHRA Staffs received her and immediately provide the primary medical care to her. After 15 Days she recovered. When she came to Ashra Her food Habit was unusual and she looked less as compare to her actual age. She was under weight , look very thin but an innocent lady . After coming To Mission ASHRA all necessary things like shelter, food, medical treatment , cancelling and some types of therapy like music and art therapy also provided to her . Our psychiatric take her in to observation period, some session of counselling provided to her. in the 1st session counselling she does not cooperate the counselor , mostly she Does not want to come for a counselling session because she feel a lot fear to talk with anyone for that reason she ignore the counsellor but in the second session we notice certain changes like she came for an interaction with our counsellor . She Seat attentively and started talking with our counsellor. In that session we got little information about her. After some day in the 3rd session of counselling, our counsellor noticed positive changes and development in her physical and mental health. In that particular session she started talking about herself and about her family as well as. She told as when Ambika (Suhana) was a child her father died and she nurture by her grandmother and mother she has one brother who was a drunker. Ambika Got only primary education. Then she worked as a servant in others house for manage her family. The age of 15 she got married to Kali Mudin Khan who had a shop in Kolkata . Ambika had 4 daughters and 3 sons .Ambika’s Married life was not good. Her husband as an extra marital affair s so that he Divorce Ambika When she was pregnant. She was also torture by her in low due to Dowry in that condition she left her in lows house. Her financial condition was very bad. Because of these problem she gone in to sever depression and suffering from mentally illness .then she left her home and moving around the street in that condition Ambika rescue by the Simulia PCR and send Her Mission ASHRA . with help of proper counselling, psychiatric medicine medical treatment all type of therapy like Music, Art, Yoga, Game and exercise and proper diet habits she over come from her physical and mental health condition , she resolved her problem and recovered some her mental illness. In the counselling section she remembered about her family members, Ambica responded to the treatment and care vary rapidly. Now she is totally cured.
Ambica came to mission Ashra on the date 29.12.2016 its around six month. After coming in to the normal state she actively take part in every activities of the home. She is very good in gardening work and she also help other members in cooking. But she missed her old mother and daughters vary badly. Therefore we plan to reunion with her family. We collect her proper address and conform it by communicating to the area police station. They conform their family details and address informs us. On the date 29.06.2017 we take Ambika for reunion with her family members. We reached at her residency Barampada, Kuakhia, Jajpur near about 1pm we identify her home and talk with her mother and daughter. They are very happy to see her and they have tear in their eyes. Ambika’s family member received her and it is a very happy and successful reunion for us.

LATIKA OJHA

NAME- LATIKA OJHA, SEX-FEMALE, AGE-50yrs, D.O.R-21.04.2017, PLACE OF RESCUE- PURI RAILWAY STATION, SOURCE OF RESCUE- ART, RELIGION- HINDU, LANGUAGE-ODIA, MARITAL STATUS- MARRIED, ADDRESS- At/Po-Biradi,PS- PRATAP PUR, VIA- MARSAGHAI, DIST- KENDRAPADA
Latika was a mentally ill woman at that time of rescue. She was of 50yrs old lady. She is rescued by the A.R.T on the date 21.04.2017. When she rescued by A.R.T in puri railway station and she did not able to answer any question. She was very innocent and her dressing was very bad. She doesn’t takecare of herself. After coming to Mission Ashra all necessaries like- Food, Medicine and Care provided to her. Our caretakers also talk with her but she didn’t respond properly. Our psychiatrists take her in to observation for the period of 30 days. Then psychiatrist came to know that she is suffering from depression. Some sessions of counselling also provided to her. In the 1st sessions of counselling she was not much more interested to talk. Then in the second sessions of counselling the same situation occurred. Then in the 3rd session she show little interest to tell something and sit silent and clam, quietly. After some days in the 4th session of counselling the counsellor noticed positive changes and development in her physical and mental health. In the 5th session she shows a little interest about herself and about her family. She told that she have 3 son and 2 daughter. 1 son get married and stay in Gujarat and another sons are staying in home. Her brother- in- law take all responsibility of home and her sister- in law take care of her son. For the reason of insufficient money in home maintanance Latika and her husband engage in vegetable selling due to some reason of mental problem. Now She was staying in Ashra.
Now she was well engage in different activities and very attentive in her work. Now the time we are able to identify her address and planning for the reunion with her family.

Panapatri

Panapatri was a mentally ill woman at the time of rescue, she was of 30 yrs old and came with her new burn girl child. She is rescued by the collected & Dist. Magistrate Balangir on the Dtd. 15/07/15.Panpatri is from Chotakita,Ps-Sahapur,Po-Bharauli,dist-Bhojpur.State-Bihar,Pi-802165. When she rescued by the collector & dist Magister Balangir her condition was very bad & she is not enable to answer anything though she was very talkative at first but that point of tie she was not able to respond properly about her. She was very innocent and her dressing condition was very bad. She does not take care of her own and her girl child too. Both of them are seriously ill. After her rescue collector & Dist Magister send Panpatri & her baby to mission Ashra for her betterment. After coming to Mission Ashra al necessaries sheler, Food,Medicinies & care provided to her. Our Psychiatric take her in to observation for the period of 20 days. Some sessions of counselling also provide to her. In the 1st session of counselling she ignores the counsellor 7 does not responds her properly but in the 2nd counselling session she was very attentive and sit very calm & quietly before the counsellor but does not talk with her any more. After some day in the 3rd session the counsellor noticed positive change and development in her physical & mental health in that particular session she stared talking about herself & about her family as well. She told as that she ia a married lady living with her husband and eight child (4 sons & 4 daughters).Her husband’s name is Jayprakash Turah.He is a daily labour. She also said that her relationship with her husband was not good. Her husband does not love her he was always busy in his work. He ignore Panpatri badly but she loves her husband very much. For that reason she was depressed initially but after happening the same situation with her repeatedly she gone into mentally depression .Day by day the level of depression gradually increased and she became mentally ill and have shown unhealthy behaviour. After that her family member send her to mental hospital for treatment but she left the hospital without any information .After some day on the date 29/06/2015 she was rescued by collector & dist magister Balangir and admitted her in dist head quarter hospital,Balangir.Where she gave birth to a baby girl child. After then she handed over to mission Ashra.During her treatment period to mission Ashra her new burn girl child to another project of People’s forum Named CCI (Aama Ghara) for her proper care & growth. Her girl child name is Anwesha, cute little girl.Panpatri came to Mission Ashra on the date 15/07/2015 and leave Mission Ashra 29/04/2017.Her total staying period in Mission Ashra if for 1 yr and 9 months. During this time all necessary requirements like food, clothe & medicine are provided her. Her physical& mental condition is gradually developed then she started proper care of herself. She eat properly, Sleep properly and eat medicine properly in daily basis and also maintain hygienic routine properly as well. She is very interested in tailoring and other house hold works for that various training like tailoring, Bamboo crafts training provider to her. After taking this training we notice she is very good in tailoring also good in making bamboo crafts. She took medicine properly for which she got quick recovery and also maintain good relationship with others. After coming into normal state she inform about her family correctly.Aftr knowing her proper address we search it on internet and find out the contact number of that areas police station. Then they conform their identity by communication with her family members they inform Panaptri about her resend condition and staying in Mission Ashra.first they little hesitate to accept her after that our conselors talk with her family members directly and convinced them to accept Panparti.Then they agree to accept her happily. On the date 29/04/2017 Panparti’s husband Jaiprakash Turaha came along with his son Mukesh Turaha and daughter-in-law to take her back to home. They receive her happily and it was a very
happy and good reunion for us.

Poonam

Poonam was 38 years lady rescued from Bhubaneswar by police control room. At the time of rescue she was sitting behind the road. Her physical appearance was week and having untidy hair. After came to Ashra she was under the psychiatric treatment and therapy. After taking medicine regularly she was improving her condition. According to her she had one sister and three brothers. When she studied in 10th class her step father misbehave with her by that time her mental problem arises . Then she married a person who was a shopkeeper. They had two sons but the reason of mental problem she lost her son. Then her husband dropout from home. Again she married another fellow but her mother-in –law was not a good person. She used to torture poonam. She had a son. Again her mental problem arises and she admitted in a mental hospital in UP but she left out from hospital. Then she got married to a person who is a blind . She wanted to help and support him. She had a son .Again her mental problem arises and she left her home unconsciously and rescue by police.
Now her mental condition is good but periodical symptoms of her illness aggravates her sometimes. She is able to do her own work. In the 1st session of counselling she was not co-operative. After some session of rapport establishment of the client . She feel comfortable and she got faith on counsellor and then she open her life story infront of the counsellor. The counsellors provide all necessaries therapies . She is very interested in tailoring and other various training like Bamboo crafts. She is also helps in gardening. Now she is care from her illness by taking proper medicine. So that we are planning to reunion her with family. She is from putul Barma ,Chitrakut. We are communicate with Raipur police to confirming her address. After conforming her proper address we will reunion her with her family .

Sunita Mohanto

Name- Sunita Mohanto, Age-21, Sex- Female, Date of Rescue- 05-04-2017, Place of Rescue- Keonjhar, Source of Rescue- Keonjhar, Collector, Language- Odiya, Religion- Hindu
Sunita is a 21 year old dusky complexioned girl rescued on 5th april 2017 by the keonjhar collector. She belongs to a poor family. The only source of income is daily wages. She has 3 brothers and 3 sisters. All the members of the family work as daily laborers to earn a living. Due to some unfortunate incident her family lost their home and she had no roof over her head. Out of desperation her family started living at the station. To support herself she started working at a hotel in keonjhar where she was sexually harassed by fellow workers. In a state of despair and distress she left the hotel and started wandering around looking for jobs. She was taken by another hotel where she faced similar harassment again. These incidents had a severe impact on her as she is at a very young and tender age. She experiences frequent episodes of seizures. At the time of rescue she was seen crying and looked hopeless. She was unable to take good care of herself and had many injuries due to seizure attacks.
After being rescued at Mission Ashra she was given basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing. She was also given necessary psychiatric treatment and therapy. After 2years of treatment she had completely stabilized and engages herself in all activities. She is seen particularly interested in ensuring cleanliness of the campus. She also helps other lesser abled inmates carry out their day-to day activities. She is still on mild medication and is happy and healthy at Ashra.
